The Road Ahead...Understanding Grief

Grief is a normal, natural response when someone we love dies, but the strong feelings and deep pain are difficult. At times, you may feel very isolated or so overwhelmed that the pain is more than you can bear. You may even think that you are "going crazy" when in reality you are experiencing normal human reactions to an important loss.

It is important to mourn openly and not "bottle up" your feelings. This is a time to rely on family and friends who are supportive and understanding. Allow them to reach out to you and help. If you need to talk or cry, find loving people who are willing to listen. Grief is your own and you need to express it in your own way.

Allow yourself the time you need to grieve.
